About this Photograph: Legendary golfer Tommy Armour overcame the loss of sight in one eye and a shoulder injury while serving in World War I to become a three-time major champion. In 1927, he defeated Harry "Lighthorse" Cooper to win the U.S. Open at Oakmont (Pa.) C.C. After that win, members at Congressional C.C. in Bethesda, Md., presented him with an automobile. Congressional was one of a handful of clubs where Armour served as the head golf professional.
