About this Photograph: Patty Sheehan erased memories of her 1990 collapse with a spectacular finish and playoff victory in the 1992 U.S. Women's Open at famed Oakmont (Pa.) Country Club. Sheehan, 35, had been runner-up three previous times, including in 1990, when she led by 11 strokes early in the final round but lost by one to Betsy King. Juli Inkster held a one-stroke lead over Sheehan coming into the 72nd hole, but Sheehan holed an 18-foot birdie putt to tie. In the 18-hole playoff on Monday, Sheehan never trailed after a birdie on the first hole and cruised to a two-stroke victory with a round of 72.
