About this Photograph: Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md. will host the 2011 U.S. Open June 16-19.
Designed by Devereux Emmett in 1924 and renovated by Rees Jones in 1990 and 2006, Congressional has been the site of five previous USGA championships, including the 1964 and 1997 U.S. Opens, won by Ken Venturi and Ernie Els, respectively. The club also hosted the 1995 U.S. Senior Open, won by Tom Weiskopf; the 1949 U.S. Junior Amateur, won by Gay Brewer; and the 1959 U.S. Women's Amateur, won by Barbara McIntire. It also was the home of the PGA Tour’s Kemper Open from 1980-1986.
