Bob Jones continued to add to his legacy with his triumph over Charles "Chick" Evans Jr. in the championship match of the 1927 U.S. Amateur at the Minikahda Club in Minneapolis. Jones would go on to defend his title the next year, but it would be 1930 that eventually stood out as his greatest season. Jones won all four of the major championships to complete what became known as the "Grand Slam" and then promptly retired from competitive golf.
