About this Photograph: Harry Vardon became one of the greatest champions of all time, winning a record six British Opens and one U.S. Open championship, in 1900 at Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Ill. A native of Jersey, the Englishman was a 4000024icipant, along with fellow countryman Ted Ray, in the famous 1913 U.S. Open playoff against Francis Ouimet.
