About this Photograph: Under brutal conditions that included winds gusting to 40 mph, Tom Kite held on for a two-stroke victory over Jeff Sluman in the 1992 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach (Calif.) Golf Links. Only five players matched or broke par in the final round, and 20 others failed to break 80. Kite managed an even-par 72, which included a pitch-in birdie at the short par-3 seventh, to finish at 3-under 275 for the championship.
